Number 2 in our series of how dogs are helping in the time of COVID-1
I teach Spanish, and when my work presented me with the opportunity to go to Spain for 2 months, I seized it! I love the Spanish lifestyle, the tapas, and my Spanish always improves after a long immersion in a Hispanic country.
When I left in February, it was with a heavy heart: my 2 beloved dogs, one very old and the other one in failing health, couldn’t travel with me.
So, in March, when Spain talked about closing its borders due to Covid-19, I was repatriated early to California and then had to wait 2 more long weeks in quarantine before I was able to reunite with my dogs.
Once reunited, the grey cloud of Covid-19 over my head became a little more tolerable thanks to the happy presence of my canine family. My dogs are everything to me. Feeding them, walking them, bathing them, playing with and even talking to them, brightens every single day for me…
Who knows when the world will “return to normal”, and what that “new normal” will look like, but having my gang with me is all I could ask for.
I really don’t know what confinement would have been without them!!
